Chicken Sitters?

I have a horse farmer lady as my neighbor who takes care of them for me and shes got a neice who LOVES to come and help, AND she gets to collect all of the fresh eggs she wants so its a plus for her to!

I went on Care.com and posted an advertisement. There were plenty of people answering my ad and some of them had references and background checks available. We go away almost every weekend to trade shows. I am very happy with the woman I hired through Care.com.

I have a couple of employees (that are also friends) that run by my house to feed/water everyone. One of them takes the dogs home with her and the cat can stay by himself for a few days.

And, no I'm not taking advantage of my people. They are on the clock and get PAID for it and keep the eggs they gather, so they are pretty happy to do it.

what is standard pay for a chicken sitter? I have a freind who lives about 20 minutes away (only 10 from where we work) and would be checking in on our babies (6 pullets) once a day. She would just be feeding and watering them, and letting them love on her. She has her own flock so I trust her.

We pay $15 per day for once a day, $22 when she comes twice a day. Our person comes in the morning to let them out of the coops and feed them and then in the evenings she comes to close them up. She also feeds our dog and caged birds.

I trust her so Im thinking of asking her to check in on the cats, we have 7 which would be home (my other 3 are needy and go visit my very elderly grandma, who thinks there kitty gods). Its nice to have a idea of what to pay my pal.
