Okay--maybe I have just been spending too much time around them--but I could almost swear I just heard the roosters yell "rahhhwk " or HAWK and the other day a different sound that resembled Crow....Has anyone else experienced this?

In my chicken books, they say that the rooster call for "hawk!" sounds almost exactly like the English word. So it sounds like "HAAAAAWWWWK!!!" It's a funny thing, but I think that's the common rooster call for hawk. I am raising my first batch of chickens and it would be fun to hear that! I have been looking forward to it! Of course, not that I want hawks' bothering my chickens. Apparently some rooster think everything is a hawk and yell "HAAAWWWK!" When they see an airplane or even a butterfly!

LOL You are not crazy...I have heard both my girls and my roo make very different sounds like sound to me like words. But I am home 24/7 soooooooo
