Chicken squat dance??

Hi--- Our Sex-Link chickens do something weird when someone or something approaches them: they squat down, stamp their feet, and spread out their wings a bit. It looks very submissive. Does anyone know why they would do this? Other chickens we have raised didn't demonstrate this behavior...

My girls do that... apparently its what they do when a male rooster comes by too... a total submission thing i think... mine are silly though and some of them over do and some only do it when they dont see me coming...

My big girls don't do that, but the banty cochins do it all the time. I can reach down to pet them, and they almost go flat under your hand. I think it's cute

i read that its a sign of eggs soon, they squat like that because they think you're the rooster
