Chicken starter breeds

Hi there I'm new to this forum just wanted to know what breeds of chickens there are and the prettiest and colourful chickens thankyou

Welcome to the forum. There are literally hundreds of chicken breeds, not including the various hybrids. For a list of many of them, you can click on the breed icon on the Backyard Chickens selection bar at the top of the page, or go to the list of breeds at MyPetChicken.com, or check out the Murray McMurray catalog (mcmurrayhatchery.com), all of which have wonderful colored pictures of these breeds. As for the prettiest chickens, this is obviously a subjective opinion since personal tastes vary. I have had many different breeds of chickens in addition to managing a chicken hatchery which produced many breeds and some of them did not look quite as pretty as their pictures. The prettiest chickens that I personally have seen (in my opinion) were the Golden Polish. However, I no longer keep any Polish in my flock because they only had a fair rate of lay and their eggs were on the small side. Hope this helps.
