Hi, so my 4 year old chicken has not been doing to well lately. About 2 weeks ago she seemed perfectly healthy (she ate/drank, walked around, very lively). The I started to notice she would not come out of her coop. She would always just roost or lay down in her coop. When we did get her out she seemed okay though. Now. if we can get her out, she seems to almost loose her balance and doesn't walk around as much. We really don't want to loose her so help me! If she doesn't seem to get better in the next couple of days we will euthanize her, but I wish we wouldn't have to.

Have you checked to see if she's eating or drinking? If not feed her water with electrolytes by syringe. Is her bottom dirty? If so check for lice /mite in her feathers or she may have a parasite and need worming. Has she been laying , if not check if she's eggbound. Is her crop hard, soft pendulous, breath smelly? If so she may have a crop issue.

You'll need to be on top of this pretty quickly if she's as bad off as you suggest.

Hope all goes well.

She is eating and drinking. Her bottom does have some poop on it, so we will look for mite or lice. I'm going to clean her bottom and hope for the best. Thank you for your recommendations! If she doesn't have a parasite, I think it could be a sour crop. Also she has not been laying, but she is not egg bound. Thanks!
