In the Brooder
My big girl was fine this evening. She was running around with her coop mates, eating and having a good chicken time free ranging. Then about an hour ago she suddenly became lethargic and acting off. I checked and she doesn't feel like she has an egg stuck. Her comb/wattles are nice and red. Eyes and nose are clear. Vent is fine. No sign of mites. She's just off. I checked her a while after putting the girls in the coop. Three where in their normal sleeping places. My big girl was still on her feet. Again, she's just off. I don't know if she ate something that is disagreeing with her or what. Her three coop mates and her have been together since hatching.
I have no idea what's wrong. I'm hoping to find four happy, hearty chickens in the morning. The only thing that's different in their lives is that they've just started laying. I'm not sure if she's one of the layers yet. With four girls I've had six eggs in eight days. And I have no idea who's laying and who isn't. Could this be the behavior before laying starts? Or something else.
