My 18 month old Wyandotte Vivian has sustained an injury to her to beak - appears it has pulled up and off of the Quik, it appears somewhat torn closer to the nostral area.

This happened late yesterday, I found her in the coop about an hour before they usually go to bed, clearly in shock. I didn't disturb her last night, just let her rest with the flock as there was no active bleeding.

this morning I provided electrolyte water and several deep dishes of wet mushy food. I have witnessed her eat and drink - though she's doing so very gingerly.

is this an injury that will heal? Anything else I can do to help her?

She's going to be sore for days, so giving her the wet mushy feed is great.

Personally, I don't mess with beaks that look like this, at least not for a while. I've found if they will eat/drink, even gingerly, then I leave it alone. Let it heal. Then IF the end of the beak for some reason needs a bit of smoothing or filing then I'll do that.

I'm sure others will offer other suggestions, but this is my 2¢

Agreed with leaving it for now. I don’t see any big splits, which is good. See what it does over the next couple of days. This could easily be something that just heals on its own.

With the hard part of the beak pulled up and off of what I'm assuming is a muscle underneath will that actually heal? Will she grow a new beak? It's been 5 days now and the beak is definitely still lifted up off the under part. Poor thing 😞

Poor thing!! While I literally have zero experience with beak issues, I did find a link that provides some very good information on the topic. I hope it helps. https://the-chicken-chick.com/repairing-chickens-broken-beak/
