I recently discovered a business that makes 'floral' arrangements out of fruit - apples, melons, bananas and strawberries. They haven't been able to find a good resource to compost or recycle the leftover scraps,
and just end up dumping it in the garbage. They buy fruit by the pallet and have huge amounts of peels, etc. that they are happy to pass on. I stop by every other day and pick up a bag for the chickens, and the girls
just love it! The owner told me that during holidays (like MOther's Day) they have hundreds of pounds of scraps every day! Hope you can find one of these places near you.
