Hi everyone,
This is my first rodeo with chickens. Back in April I brought home 9 pullets. My harmless (so I thought) coon hound got into the coop and killed one chicken and broke another's leg by the time I got out there! The one with a broken leg ended up dying after I thought I had done everything right:( The rest are a little freaked out, but seem to be getting better, except for my little white one. She won't come out of the coop. I picked her up and put her outside and she still didn't move. She does not a appear to have any visible injuries. No breaks or wounds. But she can stand and walk, but doesn't. I put food and water right next to her in the coop but I don't know if she is eating or drinking. Does anyone know what could be wrong with her? Or what I should do. I don't want to loose her too! I feel so awful!

I'm surprised that your birds are still affected by your dog attack in April. As to the one that won't leave the coop. Have you tried staying around to see if she actually eats & drinks? Or isolate her in a crate or partitioned off area to know if she does. She could have internal injuries. Has she laid any eggs during this time? Does she use the roost in the coop? Have any interaction with the other flock members?

Dogs and chickens need to be kept away from each other. Dogs + chickens = DEAD chickens. You Never hear of a chicken killing a dog. You may want to post in full detail on the "emergencies, diseases, injuries, cures," thread and see if they have any advice for you. It's pretty difficult when they can't examine the bird and look for any punctures, wounds or injuries. - possible infections. What about a vet visit?

Sorry if I was unclear. We got the chicks in April, meaning they are now 4 months old. So they are not laying yet. When I bring her out she doesn't interact with the rest of the flock. My dog is kept separated from the chickens, however he somehow squeezed in the coop. Since then it has been reinforced. This was our first problem in 4 months.
I don't know where the emergencies thread is?
