Chicken wire bottom for feather feet?

I heard that cages with chicken wire on the bottom will break the feathers on feather footed birds. i have some birds i would like to breed and sell there aggs and maybe show, mille fluers, and was wondering whats the best bedding inside a 3x5x2 cage. thanks

Wire can also cut their feet. I would suggest straw, if you plan on moving the cage around. Pine shavings will just fall through the bottom of the cage. If you aren't going to move the cage, use either one.
