I was hand feeding one of my EEs and a little blood started coming out of her left nostril. I've ever seen anything like it. She seems to be feeling fine other than that. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Thanks. She is the most personable chicken we own. She has so far not exhibited any other symptoms at all. It's been very cold here (20s and 30s) the last couple of days. Could the cold dry air be causing it?

I'm not sure. Could have been a twig or piece of straw that stuck up her nose. I think the important thing is to see if she gets anymore symptoms. Hopefully not!

Can you post a pic? It is very important to determine whether she is ill, as bleeding from nose/mouth can be a symptom of a very serious illness.

Please keep us posted, and hopefully some of our "super-experts" will monitor this.

Well, today she is fine. No trace of blood. She greeted me as she always does in the mornings. I'll just keep an eye on her and hope it was a one time event. Thank you for your responces.

Steven
