Chicken with an underbite

I have a golden comet that I rescued from a cruel owner who's beak I think was clipped because the lower half juts out farther than the cut off top. She used to have difficulty eating but now eats by scooping her feed up with the lower half of the beak and swallows. Yesterday she speared a pancake and got it stuck on her head!

IT WAS HILARIOUS!

hee hee hee... yeah, poor Maybell was trying to eat the thing and get it off at the same time! and for future advice, STAY AWAY FROM NASTY DOUBLE CROSSING CHICKEN FARMERS WHO TELL YOU GOLDEN COMETS ARE LEGHORNS WHEN THEY'RE CLEARLY NOT!

I just try and stay away from farmers who charge for pullets and send you straight run, or worse, only roosters. But I'm glad she's with you now.
Just remembered a hen we had years ago. She ate polystyrene.

One day she found a small tray, started eating the centre and somehow got her head through the hole. She walked around for awhile with the tray around her neck like a huge collar. We had such a laugh that day.

hee hee hee! that's funny! When I rescued Maybell, I bought another one I named Marjorie, but she was in such bad shape she died the next day. But at least she died in comfort. Maybell wasn't in too good of a shape herself, but she's perfectly healthy now and really really sweet! I've taught her a few tricks too!

Sorry to hear that. I also lost 2 rescued chicks, but helping them makes it worth it, you know. They were loved for awhile before they died. I'm glad to hear Maybell's having fun by you though. I keep smiling when I picture her with that pancake! And as it happens we had pancakes for dinner tonight.

Yeah. It just makes you feel all good inside when you rescue animals in need. really? That's hilarious! mmm...pancakes! I had to sell Maybell to my best friend not too long ago because we were re-doing our coop, but I still visit her!
