Hi all, my lovely, happy golden wyandotte pullet was trampled or mauled by my billy goat. I found her wedged between two pallet boards and hay. I suspect he rammed her into a corner so she might have gotten a concussion in addition to broken bones. I released her from between the pallet boards, and she did not get up nor could she stand straight. She was falling backwards and sideways. Have not seen any blood. I placed her in a steel stock tank (dry) with hay, water with electrolytes. Have been hand feeding her every few hours. She eats and drinks well. But she needs to balance her self between the wall of the stock tank and the perch bar in order to stand up. Today I brought her outside, and it looks like one of her legs is broken. She can walk on it but it is turned inwards now. She also extends her wings while walking as if to balance herself. I quickly put her back in the stock tank. The other chickens gathered around, stared and her and talked to her. She stands up and is talkative when I go to feed her. It also feels like her breast bone is extended outwards. What would a vet do for her, if anything? Is there any way to set her leg so it heals well? If not, what other supportive care can I give her?
