I have 4 chickens. I have one that for the last few months has looked horrible. (Compared to the rest) She seems to be the smarter of the 4 and tends to do her own thing surprising the other 3 they often looked shocked and belwildered by her antics. I have never noticed the other 3 picking on her or pulling her feathers or messing with her (she is tough, she'll chase the dog down)
Anyways... regarding her lack of beautiful feathers I wondered if she was molting but than it never got any better... I wondered if it was mites but the other hens all look great. I have noticed an extreme love of dusting, more so than the other girls. Yesterday I noticed a hole in her side. Now I am really at a loss. She is one of my favorite girls and I really don't know what to do. I have pictures. Any suggestions on the lack of beautiful feathers and the cause of the sore?
Also, how do I tend the sore... she is going to fill it with dirt the moment I let her out of her coop.
