Hi! My buff Orpington has a bald red spot under her vent. I’m thinking mites or vent gleet maybe but I want help identifying what it is so I know how to treat it! She’s 1 year old, I have 3 chickens total no roosters. She seems to be eating/drinking/laying normal. I just gave her an epsom salt bath. Next steps? Ideas?

Welcome To BYC

Do you see crawling bugs on her? If you do, then get a Permethrin based poultry dust and dust her and your flock.

The baldness can be commonly seen in some laying hen. The skin looks to be in fairly good condition and I don't see any signs of white pasty discharge that would indicate Vent Gleet.
