Hello everyone,

This is Day 6 and my chicken with the sore foot is still the same. She's still eating and drinking, but today she hasn't flown up to roost. She's laying around but trying to walk on it at times too. How long will it take for her foot to mend?

I'm sorry to hear that.

It should heal soon if its a sprain. Make sure she doesn't keep injuring it by jumping down from a perch.
It could be something more serious, like a tendon problem, partial paralysis, or bumblefoot.

I hope she gets better soon!

I have named my crippled chicken Molly. We're getting very attached and I am babying her as much as possible, but she's a tricky little lady. This is the second time she has flown out of her box and tried to get near the coop. When I was in the coop today she flew onto the door and hung onto the window in the door. I feel so bad that she wants to join them but when I tried to reintroduce her 2 days ago they pecked at her and she huddled down. I let her walk around inside our shed, so she got some exercise. She's putting the foot down more now, still limping but if she continues flying out of her box and trying to get closer to the ohers I'm afraid she will reinjury the foot. She's smaller than the others and I believe younger. She's my runt and I don't know if she has a chance with them. Has anyone experienced similar problems? I'm at a loss!
