my 17 week RSL pullet has a swollen eye. I just noticed it today. She's shaking her head, not eating and fluffed up.

Any suggestions?

It is hard to tell how swollen it is but I just went thru that with one of mine. She kept her eye closed almost all the time even walking with it shut. She was eating but not voraciously like normal and her poops were on the runny side. I gave her probiotics, yogurt, and a high protein kibble supplement. It took several days for her to get back to normal. As for her eye she must have gotten poked by a blackberry thorn while foraging, although I don't know that for sure and there was a little swelling I think but not bad. Hopefully it will get better soon but I would separate her and give her some yogurt and watch her for a while. Sorry I wasn't much help but thought maybe it would help ease your fears a little bit.

Thanks for the reply.
I put some triple antibiotic on the surrounding area last night. At least it was easy sneaking up on her with one eye closed! :)
It looks a little better this morning. It is still swollen but she has it open and was eating breakfast when I left her.

She's 17 weeks old and my most developed pullet. I've been watching her closely for signs of egg laying and was dismayed to find her looking ill.
