I recently had a silkie die after experiencing paralysis. I sent her off for a necropsy because I’ve been suspecting my flock has some sort of illness. The lab work came back that she has tapeworms but suspected mareks based off the paralysis. I sent in to do lab work to confirm mareks but haven’t heard back yet. I have a few chickens showing other symptoms of tapeworms such as pale combs as well as just not looking all that healthy and active. No other paralysis or coughing or anything very serious like that. Is it possible that perhaps it’s the tapeworms that cause the paralysis and not mareks? Has anyone had that happen? I recently dewormed my flock with the aquasol dewormer but I don’t think it was all that affective. What are yalls thoughts? I really hope that my flock doesn’t have mareks but we’ll manage if so.
