Hi Everybody,
We need help- our 1 year old Easter Egger has what looks like her tear duct outside one eye.
She isn't showing any signs of infection or even pain and she has let me look closely at her eye but I can't for the life of me figure out what happened or what to do. She free ranges on our property and is 'bottom chicken' in the pecking order of our flock of 4 chickens. 2 of our older girls pick on her and peck at her but there doesn't seem to be any other injury (if that's what this even is..).
There is a white-ish clear sack attached from somewhere behind her eye that is on the outside of her eye. Her eye otherwise doesn't seem to be swollen or infected. I have moved her into a room of her own and she drank a little water and seems surprisingly calm. I can't think how else to describe it or even what to say so I'm just going to post pics and hope someone knows what this is and what we can do to help her. Thanks in advance for any help or advice.

That looks like pus from the eye. Have you tried to wipe it away with a wet paper towel or tissues? She may have conjunctivitis which can be a sign of respiratory disease. You could try flushing the eye with some saline or warm water to see if it loosens enough to come off. Then I would put some Terramycin or Neosporin ointment in the eye twice a day. Watch for eye swelling or the pus to re-accumulate. Here is a link about some of the common respiratory diseases such as MG and coryza.

Thank you so much, @Eggcessive ! I flushed it with saline and was able to remove it by gently wiping as you suggested then I put on some neosporin. She has snuggled down to roost for the night but I'll check on her from time to time and see if any puss re-accumulates. Thank you so much for your quick reply. I sure appreciate it! :)
