I went out to the coop today and saw blood everywhere. One of my year old bantam hens had tore her nail and toe. I brought her inside and tried putting pressure on it and perioxide but it would not stop bleeding. I kept dipping her toe in cornstarch and applying pressure with some tissue. It seemed to help a little but was still bleeding so my partner ran to the store and got some stypic powder. We kept dipping the toe in the stypic powder and applying pressure and it seemed to stop the bleeding. I put her on a towel in a little carrier and checked her 20 minutes later. There was quite a bit of blood on the towel under her foot so we dipped it again and wrapped it in medical tape. I put some hay in a tub and food and water and set her in. She ate a little but I'm worried. It seems like she lost so much blood. I'm going to keep her inside tonight and maybe bring in her best chicken friend to be with her. Any suggestions or tips would be much appreciated!
