One of my hens is showing signs of worms. What should I use to treat them? I’ve done research and it’s actually very confusing because a lot say all natural treatments and others say safeguard or Wazine but I heard Wazine doesn’t treat for all types of worms like cecal worms. What had everyone else used? And what are the dosages? I Also have younger birds in the coop as well. Oldest are 20 weeks youngest are 6 weeks. Should all be wormed?

Would your regular vet let you bring in a sample of some combined droppings that you have mixed well, and do a fecal float? Many do not, unless they see the chicken. Valbazen is a good safe wormer that will get round, cecal, capillary and gape worms in chickens. Dosage is 0.08 ml per pound for chickens given orally once, and repeated in 10 days. It is available online and in a few selected feed stores. SafeGuard Liquid Goat Wormer is more esily available and dosage is 0.23 ml per pound given orally for 5 consecutive days. Both products are not soluable in water, have to be shaken very well to get the sludge off the bottom, and given orally. A 1 ml needle-less syringe for giving infants medicines can be found in most pharmacies if you ask for it. I am not a fan of worming very young chicks, but it depends on your environment. What is your location? My Florida friends worm their chickens young and frequently. In drier more cool environments, one
or 2 times a years might be enough.
