Chickenless in Massachusetts

We converted a 3-run kennel into a lovely chicken coop a few months ago. I thought I had an arrangement to buy two Easter Egger young laying hens but it fell through, so I ordered some 6- week old Red Star started pullets from McMurry but they won't arrive until the end of July. Frustrating! Is there nobody in Massachusetts that raises and sells chickens? I would love to buy two more pullets, hopefully closer to laying age. I don't want to start with chicks this late in the year, maybe next spring.

I've never heard anything as sad as "Chickenless in Massachusetts". Can't help you as I'm not in Mass., chickened or chickenless, but I sure hope you find someone who is dying to unload some chickens. I'll bet you dollars to doughnuts you could get some rascally roosters in no time!

Im in CT and I have some chicks....but not pullet per se. THere is a livestock auction down this way every Monday--in central connecticut. Check craigslist and backpage.com too.

Yes, it is sad

I'm sure I could find a roo or two or ten, but the problem is my husband. He was not allowed to have pets growing up (animals are dirty, you know) and then he married me. He was unprepared for the onslaught of animals, but with me it was bound to happen. He has taken in stride the 18 horses, 2 cats, 4 Australian Shepherds, the African grey parrot (he bought me), the 2 lovebirds, 3 parakeets, and 2 turtles. He drew the line at chickens, but caved in because I promised no roosters and built me the beautiful coop. I posted my sad tale in the sale section of this website and there may be someone who has some EE pullets if the person coming Monday doesn't buy her out. Keeping my fingers crossed!

Thank you for all for your welcoming messages. I love this site. Nice to know I'm not the only lunatic that thinks chickens are adorable, and knows how much better a fresh egg tastes.
I tried Craig's list a few weeks ago without any luck. I'll try again.
Thanks everybody!
