Chickens and ducklings together?

Two days ago we bought two ducklings, and last night we bought two polish chicks. The woman we bought the chicks from said we couldn't put them with the ducklings, because ducklings kill chicks. I had never heard such a thing before, but stopped at the hardware store to get some hardware cloth and make a divider in the brooder.

When we got home, my daughter reminded me that when we bought the ducklings, they were in a brooder with chicks. So we put them all together. They are all snuggled up together and having a good old time. The brooder is pretty big, so the chicks can stay away from any wet spots the messy little ducklings make.

It all seems good for now, but I thought I'd ask just in case we are making a potentially fatal error: Is it OK to put these little guys together?

Of course you can put them together! I am unsure why the lady would have said that... haha

My chicks and ducklings are together. They love each other. My one little buddy has actually imprinted on a chick and follows her around everywhere. The duckling is 2 weeks old and the chicks are 4 weeks now. The chick even sleeps on the floor next to the duck. The duckling cuddles under her wings while the other chick roosts above them.

Perfectly fine to have them together. But yes... the ducklings get very, very.... did I say very? messy.
