In a couple of weeks I will be introducing some young ducks to my flock of hens. My question is regarding what to feed everyone. My hens are currently getting layer feed but my ducks will be too young for that. (They’ll be 8 weeks old). Given that they will both be eating the same food, should I go with maintenance feed with oyster shell supplement? Any advice would be appreciated!

Flock raiser, Starter, or grower with Oyster shell on the side will work.

I have two feeders, the one on the ground has flock raiser or grower in it. The other feeder is on a raised platform that the ducklings can't get to and has Layer, with a bowl of Oyster shell on the side.

As a side note, Nutrena non medicated starter is great for ducks the age of yours as it has more than enough Niacin for them. The minimum amount of Niacin ducks need is 55mg/kg, the starter has 185mg/kg. Their All flock pellet has 125mg/kg.
