Chickens and Knitting!

I'm pretty into knitting, AND chickens, and I thought it would be cool to just make a thread about both...

I guess people can post patterns, or just chat...

Don't feel too bad, I'm all giddy about getting a yogurt maker for my b-day... so it can pair with my homemade granola...

But I don't feel too bad because DH AND DS, who is 12, both said the same thing... so if I'm lame, I've got company.

Didja notice that your screenname's initials are EH? I was going to say "Eh, don't feel to bad" but then I realized it was initials and an internal debate about whether to capitalize both or leave as a 'word' ensued so I just snipped it and added this instead.

I've never tried knitting. Crochet yes, Ol Granny spent years worth of summers trying... I can chain like a madman but as soon as I turn around to make a potholder/etc it magically transforms into a dinosaur. My little brother thought they were nifty anyways.

Is knitting harder or easier to learn than crochet do you think? Gotta say as far as weapon in case of emergency rodent attack I'd vote for knitting needles over a crochet hook... but beyond that I've not a clue.

Aw. The conversation stopped.

I want to knit one of my chickens a sweater, but none of my needles are long enough to hold all the stitches, and I don' know how to use circulars! Anybody have any experience in this???

You could use circulars, not too hard to use or knit using 4 needles (stitches on 3) as when knitting socks (I am an avid sock knitter). Not sure about the body of the sweater but I think I could figure something out......... I have knit many people sweaters on straight needles and circulars. You should be able to get enough stitches on the straights. If you have started already and want some help, pm me and I will see what I can figure out. I knit a bikini one time, just to see if I could, the bikini top would work well for wing protectors with a couple of minor adjustments. If you have roos though, I would be worried their nails would get caught in the knitted sweater and ruin it.
