Hi everyone. I want to start raising chickens this summer and one question that I have is can you keep different breeds of chickens together? How about different types of poultry? I was thinking that I want a duck or turkey too, but don't want them fighting with the chickens. Any help is appreciated.

Thank you!

I have peafowl turkey guineas and roosters all living in the same area.

I also have my sebrights in with a pair of peasants.

as long as they have the same food and housing needs they can cohabitate without problems.

Have to put them up in a neutral territory though. You can't throw new birds into a cage of a flock thats already established. Then you might have fighting.

Many of us here have different poultry with our chickens. I have some chickens with guineas and another flock with a turkey hen. I also have many breeds of chickens living together. They don't seem to mind. I have a WLH rooster that loves my blue andalusian hen more than the others

He's crazy. My buff orpington hen won't let any other rooster breed with her except the RIR. She attacks the other ones.

I'm thinking that since I'll be starting from scratch that it should be easier to have them together. Start them out together as chicks. Should be a smoother transition right?

Hi! A couple of days ago a Partridge turned up out of no where and decided to hang out with my Chickens.

Last night he sleep in the coop with the Chickens on their roost. "Is there any harm in letting him hang out with the Chickens?". He seems to have been owned by someone, he is not afraid of the Chickens and the Chickens love him.
