I know not to keep them together, but if my aviary currently has baby chickens in it, and I have red golden chicks coming, will it be o.k to put them together at least until the baby chickens are old enough to move into the big pen?

This is more a matter of opinion. Basically folks will tell you to keep them separated, which I guess is a good idea in most cases. A lot depends on where you live and the sanitation of your birds. The infections are transmitted by chickens that have access to earth worms that spred the parasite to domestic birds who are immune to the disease themselves but infect the game birds with it. I have raised all types of poultry together for over 30 years and have never had any problems with diseases. I think this is mainly due to the fact that our ranch is in the desert with very little moisture and no earth worms. I don't believe you will have any problems at all with baby chicks as long as the adult chickens are kept away. Good Luck Amigo
