:welcome and good luck with your poultry adventure! :frow The folks in the quail part of the forum should be able to provide some assistance. Can't say I've raised quail, but I would agree with ChickCharm that it would be better to keep the, apart for disease purposes and to keep the quail from flying away.

What kind of quail do you have? Most will fly away within seconds if not confined.

Flocks of chickens have been known to kill quail. Chickens and quail should not be raised together due to disease, as well as the size difference.
They are japanese Quail

Quail should never be "together" in the same vicinity due to disease issues. Chicken poo can carry disease you do not want to give to your quail.

I raise both Coturnix and Chickens but they are separated on my property by about 50 feet and have no access to each other. I still take every precaution possible to not spread anything. Coryza is an airborne disease and can be transmitted easily.
