Chickens and rain

Are they smart enough to come in out of the rain, or should I just keep them in the coop? And will they find their way back into the coop?

They will come out of the rain on their own..and if they free range they will know where the shelter is..my chickens look like drowned rats but I still love em
and they go in the coop when they want to!!

Mine have been drenched that past few days with the heavy storms that have hit Virginia. They appear no worse for wear, though 3 of the 13 were soaked! I put on the red light I used when it was cool overnight so they didn't get too chilled.
