Chickens are OK!!

So we have had these guys what, 2 weeks now. One of them, the gal I have pictured here is the one we believe is laying. We have had 1 per day for 5 days in a row. The rooster is protective of his girls. Always letting them eat first, go first. They are all kinds of docile now. IS it normal for the laying hen to be loud and squakky right before she lays?

Every bird is different, but some will get a little loud when it's egg time.

Yeah, you can pretty much tell when she is going to to lay. We have gotten an egg from her everyday for the past 6 days. It's fun going out there after work and opening the coop and seeing that one little egg in her nest box!
