Chickens crossing river?

Hi i am getting chickens later next week and i am preparing my garden for them, I have a shallow river that is just over a meter in width and around 10 to 30cm deep that divides the garden, i am hoping to have the chickens on one side of the river will they cross?

X2 I have heard Silkies have a hard time swimming and drown so get breeds that can swim!

I think so, eventually. I have chickens (10 of them) that I got with ducklings. I raised them together and the chickens think they are ducks. They spend the day in the creek with the ducks everyday. I think that the have the capability (maybe not silkies or even frizzles/sizzles)

Ok if so how high do i need to get a fence so they can't cross?

What breed of chickens do you have? Some chickens will stay behind a 4 foot fence. Some of my chickens fly over a 6 foot fence so they can laugh about it......

they have hybrids if i clipped there wings could they get over 4 foot, plus there is a small creek on the other side of the fence
