CHICKENS EATING THEIR OWN EGGS HELP!

Okay, so recently I thought that my chickens egg production was down but today a witnessed one of them peck a hole in an egg and eat the shell and the insides. Is there anything that I can do to prevent this other than collecting eggs more often?
