Hello everyone,
Thank you for accepting me here. I hope I'll learn a bit more about them with your help. I'm absolutely a newbe.
I'm from Spain and I live in an appartment with two dogs, three cockatiels and a pair of 5 week old chicks ( a silky and a cochin bantam). I got them with 5 days of life. I really wish they both are pullets... otherwise, I couldn't keep them at home! I am already very attached to them... they love cuddling with me, and watching tv in the couch. They are lap chickens! Very very quiet and gentle, and they don't get scared at all. In case some, or two of them were roosters and I got to get rid of them because of the neighbours, my heart would break apart! So I find out this beautiful site and I would like to ask you for help at the right thread.
Thank you for all, and sorry for my english!

Silkies are very difficult to sex before 4-5 mos. of age, and sometimes NOT until they crow or lay eggs. Welcome to Backyard Chickens. I see Shadrach has already introduced himself.
Thank you! I really am more afraid of the cochin. The silky is much smaller and has got that thing on its head that almost always have hens.

My friend Arline used to have house chickens, mainly silkies (her favorite breed). She didn't have diapers on them - that's a lot of work, time & $$ involved. She just had cleanup supplies at the ready. As soon as she saw a mess, she cleaned it up and disinfected the area. Her house DID NOT smell.
