Will a chicken hatch bobwhite quail, would they be able turn the small eggs, and since the incubation period is 23 to 24 days, would they stay on the nest that long, or should i have the incubator ready incase she leaves the nest?

What kind of chicken/s do you have that you are going to allow to hatch the quail eggs? I don't know how well standard size chickens will do. A few years ago, I had a friend that kept bantam chickens and quail. He let the bantams hatch his quail eggs and said that they were a lot more dependable than any incubator he had ever used! I'm sure the chickens will roll the eggs around as they enter and exit the nest. And, I wouldn't be very concerned about the hens breaking the eggs either. The shell of a quail egg is a lot harder than that of a chicken egg. By the way, the same guy used his bantam hens to hatch out his pheasant eggs too!

Good luck,
