So for next year my budget is going to be really tight. I am keeping our flock of 30 free range hens/roo's for our personal egg usage and enjoyment. and my mom offered 50 chicks for christmas. ( not ON christmas, but for) .

when would the best time to order 50 hens be. I'm going to order all pullets vs. unsexed.

I figured I'd feed, Range, and grow em for 16 weeks and sell the pullets right before laying so people could buy started chickens vs. chicks.

Also, how much per chicken is average?

I thought if i can sell 40 of them I'd have a decent profit ( no upfront costs) even after feed ect. and possibly could feed my flock for a while off that.

You would have to figure out how much feed they will be eating and how much you can get for them in your area. My chickens pay for themselves and make me a small profit from selling their eggs.
