Chirping
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? I have owned chickens in the country. This is the first time I have had chickens in the CITY. J
(2) How many chickens do you have right now? We purchased 12 chickens the week before Easter.
(3) What breeds do you have? Barred Rock, Red Sexlink, Golden Comet, Columbian Rock, Black Australorp, Ameraucana, and Brown Leghorn.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens? I love chickens and their personalities. I love watching my children and grandchildren interact with the chicks. It brings a bit of the country to the city!
(5) What are some of your other hobbies? Fishing, biking, hiking and boiling crawfish!
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. My wife and I have 8 children and 3 grandchildren. One cat that adopted us…. J I work in the medical field with a Radiology background. I now work for the IT department managing the Imaging systems.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? I found BYC during internet searches. What a great place.
FYI: I wanted to automate as much as possible. I built and automatic feeder using a deer feeder. I installed an Automatic door and built a watering system using the chicken nipples!
