I have a chicken who got her leg stuck at the knee. Her leg at her knee slips out of the joint (or something silmar) causing her knee to rotate outward causing her foot to turn in. (Making her walking on the lateral side of her foot,) I can pop her knee back into the correct position, but it doesn’t stay for long.I have tried wrapping it, but that only seems to work for a couple hours and, although I don’t wrap too tight, it still causes some swelling to the foot.. Not sure what to do, If I use a splint that keeps her knee in one position, how would she relax in the evening? She is healthy otherwise and seems happy, I put her in shady locations in my garden, and keep her in an enclosed area otherwise… but am trying to figure out how to splint her knee best, especially if this is going to be life long, so she can better get around. Any suggestions? If I splint it so her knee is bent but in the proper position, would she be able to get around or sleep at night?
I’ve done some research. but am struggling with ideas on this.
This picture doesn’t do it justice, but shows the position of her foot.
