I posted a message awhile back but only received one response.....I have 3 out of 10 hens that are missing feathers on the front of their necks. Everyone is happy, no fighting, they are clean, fed well, have plenty of space. At no time do we ever see them peck at one another or even themselves. No itching or scratching. The problem isn't getting worse, just not better. They are fed organic layer pellet, organic cracked corn, lots of fresh fruits and veggies and just recently we added bread back into their diet. They hadn't had bread in months as someone suggested the yeast in the bread could affect them. We don't give them bread often though. They also have grit and oyster shell. We clean out and refill their water every day. They graze in the grass as well. Is there any possibility of a mineral defficiency? Even though we didn't see any evidence of mites, we even treated them with a nutural non toxic dusting powder for mites....problem is still here. I'll try to take some photos and then post them here so you can see what it looks like. They are very happy and healthy girls and they don't seem to care about the missing feathers. I know I won't b e able to convince the husband to take them into the vet and they appear very healthy.....just looking for some advice here. Thanks, Heather
