I have two chickens that lay such different color than what I saw those breeds lay.
My Australorp lays very light brown almost cream color eggs.
My Dominque lays basically white eggs - not like tonight white, but whiter than all my eggs.
Middle two eggs
*Following for someone to respond: as I was just about to post about a quandary with my chick that hatched from a white egg- looks to be a white leghorn, but is laying brown eggs.
Yeah when you see a description on a certain breed's egg color, no one tells you that the description is just in general...That's one thing I figured out after my girls started laying.
For example, an "olive egger" (hybrid) may lay brown eggs, and people can get very mad when they find out that the hatchery "tricked them" even though there's no telling about the bird's genetics..
Or a maran might lay lighter eggs than maybe desired...Etcetera etcetera.
My Australorps and BR lay varying shades of brown. I have some EE and a Saphire Gem in the mix. Occasionally, I get a slightly less than pure white egg. I never know what I'm going to get from day to day.
