Has anyone elses birds never been attacked by things? Dunno what I'm doing so right, but while there's many people saying "oh dam my birds got ate by dogs or crazy unknown things" and try put up fencing and stuff to protect em. IV never had an event were the flock has been attacked, well... Sort of.

A pluver bird attacked my rooster an a few hens one day when they went over too close to there nest but it wasn't really an attack just swooping down at them chasing em away was a bit funny.

In my area there's foxes 🦊 seen bout five all up maybe a little more. Hawks (or kites) and eagles 🦅 wild pigs 🐖 snakes 🐍 and wild dog (apparently they are hybrid of dingo and domestic) but never encountered em but there out there. 🐺 Those are the only animals that may eat the flock or hurt em. One of my chooks been hit by a car and passed though. 🚗

Got a dog maybe she has kept things at bay to some extent. 🐕 Roosters names Lucky so maybe that's got something to do with it too.🐓

Had free time n just wanted to start a chicken convo.

I kept poultry for a decade and never had much of a problem. Than a few years back the predators found us. I had repeated loses in multiple years, than it stopped. I think it depends on your area, which predators are about, and how much prey they have.

You can set your birds up in a good way, but you can never say never to predators.

Mine have never been attacked, but I keep them in large covered pens covered with hardware cloth that is also skirted around th whole enclosure and ony let them "free range" when supervised. Works for me and chickens seem happy and healthy.
I am more than a little paranoid about predators. Mostly the feral cats, mongoose and neighbors loose dogs. 😊

Yea folks say when the foxes find the flock they may keep coming back. My birds are always free range. There's been few times, not many where the rooster sees something like a large bird an makes his weird noise an runs the hens follow sometimes one may go the wrong way for some reason, how cute are hens when they run though with there fluffy butts.

You better go knock on wood. I mentioned once it had been a while since we lost a bird besides little chicks to something and that afternoon a hawk took down a banty while she was drinking. Hawk d@mn near took my horse out too, she spooked and almost got stuck in the fencing

Back in the 90's I bought a farm and resold it a year later because the neighbors were absolutely horrible. A dozen baby ducks were found dead without a mark in a shed beside my driveway .I always suspected the neighbors broke their necks. I had 2 tires sliced the same night.I also found a 12 week old pullet dead out in the run but it could have been a snake tried to swallow it. My chickens are kept in predator proof coops and runs so I don't lose any.

I just recently learned here that a dang squirrel or a ground squirrel either one will kill baby chicks and eat eggs.I never thought in a million years that a squirrel would kill a small chicken but I'm grateful of having learned it here.I just thought I'd share that little bit of info because a lot of people just don't know until it happens to them.I use hardware cloth on my pens and soon will have a electric fence too. :hmm

Once a predators get a free chicken dinner they're relentless ...Fortunately they've never got any of my chickens and I pray they never do.I will never stop improving on my coop or runs .I'm always making it better and better to keep them at bay.I never free range either...
