Chickens New Neighbor

Finally decided to figure out if anything hangs out with my chickens at night and got this on night one...

Those little creatures are very beneficial. Yes,,,, I know that some of the full grown large ones can harm chickens. They are not able to get into coops, anywhere near as easily compared to raccoons. They do not eat away wood to make an entrance.
You located in Mass. do encounter ticks. I know that the ones responsible for Lyme, are the small ones. Opossums eat ticks, and are also resistant to Lyme. They are also resistant to rabies, whereas raccoons, are the most common carriers of that.
Don't hurt lil guy, and keep your coop secure.

I'd need a heard of opossums to tackle the ticks around here.

If you have horses, they are not welcome in the barns or near the hay!
I have had them get in the coop at dusk, and always inspect the coop before closing it up.

Years ago I had one dig under a fence and kill a bird. I set a trap inside the fence with the dead bird and it came back and I caught it.
