chickens not laying

Hi I need help I have 4 girls are about 15 months old I have 2 nesting box but not all are laying I don't know what too do why aren't they laying?

Glad you could join the flock! What breed are your chickens? Some breeds are not as prevelant egg layers as others. What food are you feeding your girls? Do you have them on a good quality layers pellet or good quality flock raiser with oyster shell available at all times? Are you sure they are not laying or do you think they could be stashing eggs somewhere other than the nest box? Are they let out to free range? They could be laying somewhere else other than the nest box.

Do you have predators ( raccoons, snakes etc.) that could be taking your eggs?

Did you recently acquire these hens? Moving to a new 'home' is a very stressful event for a chicken. It can sometimes take several weeks for them to settle in and for egg production to resume.

As you can already tell by the responses to your question, there are a lot of answers to why your chickens aren't laying. Are they molting by any chance? Or are they acting broody? Do you have an egg bound girl?

You can't "make" a chicken lay an egg but you can address the possible causes for them not laying and make changes (or wait it out) as needed.

Hi all Thanks for reply have have 3 Brown and 1 white I had the two Brown for about 6 months and then introduced the other two had all 4 now for 6 months so I would think they would be ok now.
I have got them on fools laying pellets and lots of scraps they did molten but are better now and I have looked through the back yard for eggs but still no luck

Lay off the scraps and make sure they are getting plenty of feed. Nutritional imbalances can through off egg production.
