Chickens Not Sleeping on Roost

You mentioned they are still growing, how old are they?
5 of them will be a year old in March, and 3 of them are 4 months behind them. except my cockerel and one of my pullets were runts and are still smaller than average, I have been seeing the cockerel put on some weight, but his is still about the size of our Sapphire Gem pullet of the same age. The other is a Welsummer pullet, she is maybe 4 months younger than the cockerel, I have not seen any notable weight gain, but she has a chipped beak, and hangs around the cockerel because she gets picked on more than the other flock members.

At first my one month old chicks were sleeping on the 2 x 2 cross piece about two inches off the screen floor. When I went to check up on them last night they were cuddled together on the screen floor. I think they are doing that to keep warm. Its been cold in Hawaii lately.

I am really impressed with the hardware cloth floor, so far their poop has been falling through and they are really active and healthy.
