i know this is common on farms with cowpies. do they like to pick through dog poop?

My chickens don't peck thru dog poo..but they will scratch thru the compose pile where I have bunny and horse poo.. I think they are looking for fly larva and seeds that have pasted thru...

Our dogs eat the birdseed that falls from the feeders. So the chickens peck through it to get the seed.

oh ok but since my dog doesnt do that i guess there's no reason to. although he eats lots of fruits/veggies. i can gather rabbit poop from the front yard and give it to them.

My dogs join the chickens when I toss scratch grains onto the patio. At the risk of sounding too graphic, the chickens only peck through the dog poop that has scratch grains in it.

I have since learned to either supervise scratch snacks so the dogs don't eat it too, or give it to them more discreetly.
