Chickens - rare, quiet, gentle, easy for beginners (4H)

Anyone know of a rare, gentle, easy for beginners, my son is in 4H. TIA !

I'd peruse these 2 excellent breed selection charts. Some rare breeds are hard to find. If handled from chicks, most are gentle.
Barnevelders, Langshans, Buckeyes, Sultans, Redcaps and Naked Necks come to mind.

Anconas
Speckled Sussex
Campines

Silkies are really great pets if you handle them enough. If you handle them as chick constantly then they will make cuddly little almost cat like chickens that will just sit in your lap. Unfortunately though if you don't handle them enough, they will be very skittish.

Phoenix is an excellent idea but they may be hard to find and need special housing.
I like Anconas too but they don't handle confinement very well.

Silkies aren't rare.

Jaerhon is another but they may be hard to find too.

I left out some breeds that don't handle heat or confinement.

Oh ya sorry, I thought I'd just share a cuddly chicken ... I wasn't really thinking about the rare part. My bad.

They're definitely cuddly and docile. My friends have them but I never would. I need predator proof chickens and silkies wouldn't last long here.
