today and yesterday my chickens started to climb up the fence and stay in the small space for the night. since im to short to get the chickens out of the fence, i have to wait for my dad to do so. today my dad is going to come home late and all 4 of my chickens are on the fence and squished in a small section. i tried to lure them down with food and trying to push them down with a stich but it doesnt work. what is happening? will they jump off? will they stay there? i just wanted to know so there isnt more hassal and they do have a coop so whats the problem?

how old are they? Some chickens are difficult. If the one on top of the pecking order finds a place to be most of the time the other chickens will follow and surround her. Chickens always go where they feel safer so they probaly find that place safer... How far is your roost off the ground? When they DO come down I would try to block it off and they will get the message

the roost is like 10 inches of the ground. the lowest ranked chicken was the first one to go on the fence and then her mate followed. then the higher ones followed. the chickens are like 2 and a half months old. i am thinking of putting a really high roost so they can stay there until i can put them back into the coop

yes I would raise it. I think that people recommend 18". Chickens like higher the better as long a they can fly up because their instincts are to roost in trees away from predators So they like higher roosts. Thats weird that the low ones in the pecking order went first
