Chickens screaming at sunset, please help!!!

The room I have them in gets really hot, I tried to cut them off slowly but it still might have been a bit of a shock. I also am not sure they are roosting, I have seen them on the roost but not sleeping on them yet.

mine are doing the same thing! some nights - but not others. i don't get it! mine are just 5 weeks old. they jump on us and want to cuddle - but they also want to cuddle up high - they fight for the spot behind my neck. not very comfortable.

i have three theories i'm testing. one is that they were cold without the heat lamp after all, and so i am trying the heat lamp on a dimmer switch. the second is that we disturbed their routine before bed on the two days they were upset, by giving them wild greens and slugs to chase and leap for, and they were just riled up and needed comfort. the third is that they want a higher roosting bar...

of course, they might just really want their coop, which i'm working very hard on.

anyone else have ideas?

I am new to chickens so this behavior I witnessed to night kinda put me in th WTH was that mode ... I have had them for maybe three days .. they have a roost and the two hens utilize it but the rooster likes to sleep below them on the floor of the coop. Tonight I put them in as the sun was about set ( later than usual) I went in and the two hens were throwing a quiet fit .. chittering up a storm and attempting to fly out of the yard.. ( the one would set on top of the gate) I had a hard time getting them into the coop. They quieted down about 5 minutes after I shut them in for the night. Any ideas what caused all the excitement?
