Chickens sitting atop their coop at night

Why are my chickens (only have 4) no longer going into their coop at dusk. They all return and now sit on the roof of the coop and I have to go out and physically put them in ???

Looks like they’ve decided they like that spot better. Do they have roosts?
You can try to encourage them in at night with treats and a light (turn the light off once their in there), or herd them into the coop before they have a chance to fly up onto the roof. This way you can ‘train’ them to go into the coop at night.

I just posted a nearly identical scenario on the Welcome To My Pond thread in the Random Ramblings forum.

I had a smaller coop with no where to roost and mine did that. I built a larger coop with a row of nesting boxes mounted on the wall and they now go in there on their own.
