My chickens continue to sleep on top of their nesting box, and I want them to stop. I know they like to sleep up high but I made a roost ladder inside the coop, and still they prefer to sleep outside on top of the nesting box. I went through great effort to increase the slant of the box, and that worked for a while, but no longer. Is there anything slippery that I could apply that would help? Any other ideas?

I've had this problem before and it's super annoying. One thing that has helped is to go out every evening for a couple of weeks and close off the nesting boxes. It's a pain but eventually they find somewhere else to sleep. If you do this, don't forget to open them up again in the morning so the girls can lay.

Increase the slant of the top or move nest boxes to under your poop boards if you have them. A pic of your setup might help here further.

@KDukes11 please post pics of nests and roosts.
.....and coop inside and out.
I'm wondering if it's too hot inside the coop so they prefer to be outside where it's cooler.
