My chickens have been free ranging for months while we built their run and they were always outside during the day. Now that the run is done, they have shade and food/water. Sand for the ground (same as their coop). But they hangout in their coop for like 70% of the day now. They come out for food and water when needed.
The temps are similar inside/outside of the coop. Its 350+ square ft and I have 22 birds total.
I feel bad and I'd let them keep free ranging but my garden is nonexistent at this point from them destroying it and I'm sick of spraying poop off my patio.
Normal behavior or are they mad at me for locking them up? Lol
